About Us
Zion Mennonite Church is located in Schanzenfeld, Manitoba, which is three miles south of Winkler. The Zion church is thriving congregation and continues to grow.
Zion Mennonite Church is a member of the Chortitzer Mennonite Conference and is one of three CMC churches that conducts worship services in both German and English.
History
The Zion Mennonite Church was formed in 1980, with services being held in Gnadenthal at first. The new building in Schanzenfeld was completed and dedicated a short time later. During the first 14 years of it's existence, the Zion church ran independently.
In September of 1994, the Zion Mennonite Church was accepted into the Chortitzer Mennonite Conference, becoming the first Chortitzer church located in the Winkler-Morden-Altona region.
The Winkler area has seen tremendous growth in the past few years, as many families have been moving to the area. This has translated into substantial growth for the Zion church and led to a recent building expansion project that has doubled the size of the current facility.
This growth has not been limited to numbers. The Zion church is very active in missions and outreach in the area. As well, Zion is very well represented at the conference level.
